Summary: Where Shintaro was confused.
A/N: Writing because all these pairings need love. First time writing YumaShin and I'm still feeling awkward. Probably the first time writing RyuShin too.
Enjoy!
It was already dark, and Shintaro was still awake. It wasn’t
like he didn’t value his sleeping time. He just couldn’t sleep. There were so
many things clouding his mind, though actually, it’s only just related to one
person.
He was thinking about his brother, Morimoto Ryutaro.
Shintaro couldn’t understand the jumbled up feelings he was
going through. The little fluttering feelings in his heart would have whenever
his brother smiles so widely. Or even the tiny, though seldom, encouragements
that the older Morimoto would give him.
Shintaro couldn’t understand.
Sliding down from his bed, he quietly crept into Ryutaro’s
room. Shintaro could feel his heartbeat increasing as he crept nearer to Ryutaro’s
sleeping figure.
“Nii-chan,”
There wasn’t an answer, and he just stood at the edge of
Ryutaro’s bed. Picking up his courage, Shintaro slowly dent down, brushing
their lips gently against each other. He had quickly backed away, as Ryutaro
stirred in his sleep.
And just one word broke the younger boy’s heart, just one
name that came out from Ryutaro’s mouth as he sleep talks.
“Keito …”
***
It was surprising for him to see Ryutaro running down the
stairs with a huge grin on his face. How long has it been since Shintaro saw
his brother smile like this? Probably the whole period the older Morimoto was
suspended from the company.
“Nii-chan, why are you -?” Shintaro didn’t manage to finish
his sentence, as he saw his brother pulling someone behind him.
“Keito’s over! We’ll be in my room alright?”
Without anymore words, Ryutaro continued to pull the older
boy up the stairs. Keito only managed to bow slightly down at the younger Morimoto
with an apologetic smile.
Shintaro just quickly brush it off by shaking his head and
shouting to Ryutaro that he would inform their mother about Keito coming over.
And he feels that another part of him broke off again.
***
He groaned as he hears his mother shouting his name. “Shintaro,
can you call Ryutaro to invite Okamoto-kun down for some snacks?” With his
mother’s request, Shintaro had trudged up to Ryutaro’s room, opening the door
quietly without knocking.
The door was half-opened, not too big for the two of them in
the room to spot Shintaro, but enough to let him see what was going on inside.
No words came out from his mouth, as Shintaro stood grounded to his spot as a
lone tear rolled down his cheek.
He saw Keito pinning Ryutaro down on the bed, with his
brother’s arms encircling the older boy’s neck, locked in a passionate kiss.
The vivid whispers of ‘I miss you’ could be heard, and from where he was
standing, he could see tears tainting both of their faces.
They broke apart, and Keito gently placed their foreheads
together before capturing Ryutaro’s lips in a chaste kiss. Shintaro could see
how both of them missed each other, and seeing them like this made him realize how
they can never be separated.
Keito’s fingers were wiping off the tears from Ryutaro’s
cheeks, and it was then a smile appeared. The smile that Shintaro love and it was
only there when Keito was involved.
It made him realize this bright smile of his brother was
only for Keito. It was only there when Keito was beside Ryutaro. With that, he
softly closed the door, not bothering the reunited couple who were trying to
make us of their limited time together.
‘They are meant for each other,’ was what he thought, before
leaving the house without any word on where he was going.
***
How long has he been wondering around? His legs continued to
move, and he has no destination in mind. It was the ringtone of his phone that caught
his attention, returning him back to reality.
“Hello?”
“Shintaro, where are you?!” It was Yuma on the other side of
the line.
“Somewhere in Shibuya,”
“Wait for me at our usual café. Just go over and wait for
me.” With that, Yuma had cut off the line before Shintaro could have another
say. Shrugging, he turned around and started to walk in the direction of the café
Yuma spoke about.
***
It wasn’t long for Yuma to reach the café, but what he didn’t
expect was for the older boy to quickly hug him so tightly at first sight. “Thank
goodness you’re alright, Shintaro.” Shintaro didn’t understand why, but in Yuma’s
embrace, he felt at ease, and tears just fell as he hugged the older boy back
with equal tightness.
“Yuma-kun, I’m so confused.” Yuma didn’t say anything, only
continuing to hug the fragile young boy in his arms in the vast crowd.
***
Shintaro just sat there, sipping little by little on his hot
chocolate. It calms him down. “You’re not asking what happened.” His eyes were
casted on the table, trying to trace the vague patterns of the marble. A smile
could be seen from the side of his eyes, and he felt Yuma ruffling his hair in
his usual warm way.
“You’ll tell me if you want to right? I’m waiting till you
feel better. I don’t have to ask,” Shintaro looked up, and his lips curled up
into a tiny smile.
“Thank you, Yuma-kun.”
It was then, Shintaro started to tell the older boy
everything. From the weird feelings that he felt for Ryutaro, and how he sees
his brother and Keito being the most perfect couple in the world. How he felt
his heart breaking, and how he didn’t understand everything that’s happening.
A bitter laugh came out of his mouth, “Yuma-kun, what
exactly is love anyway?”
“It’s when a person’s perfect to you. No matter how many
flaws that person has. Let’s take Ryutaro and Keito for an example shall we?”
Shintaro nodded, urging Yuma to go on.
He explained how people saw Keito’s dancing skills as a
flaw, since there were juniors that can dance better than him. However, Yuma
brought up that in one conversation he had with the older Morimoto, Ryutaro
could stop telling Yuma about how cute Keito’s dance was.
There might be no one in the world that would agree with
him, but in Ryutaro’s eyes, Keito’s flaw in his dancing skill was something
that’s loved by Ryutaro. “Then, do you have someone that you love Yuma-kun?”
Although Yuma tried to hide it, Shintaro saw a flash of
sadness in the older boy’s eyes, as he nodded his head. “A very special person,
though I doubt that the love would be returned.”
“Why so?”
“Because that person’s probably in love with someone,”
***
That sentence continued to echo in Shintaro’s mind, and
thinking back, those words of Yuma had made his heart squeeze. An uncomfortable
feeling overcame him, and it was even more painful than when he saw his brother
kissing Keito.
Why?
“Shintaro, are you alright?”
“Nii-chan, why does my heart hurt when I heard Yuma-kun said
that he loves someone?” It had taken Ryutaro by surprised, but he smiled as he
sat beside Shintaro on the bed. “You love Yuma don’t you?”
“I don’t know. Then why do I feel hurt too, when I saw you kissing
Keito-kun?”
Shintaro was soon being strangled lightly by Ryutaro, as the
older mumbled something like “Don’t sneak around and see what I’m doing with
Keito you idiot.”
Releasing his grip, Ryutaro laid down, looking up at the
ceiling, “That’s probably a brother complex, it’s probably usual between
siblings I guess. Doesn’t it hurt more with Yuma though?”
A nod was all he got for an answer. “Why not tell him about
it?”
With that, he got back up onto his feet, and left the room.
***
“Hello?”
“Yuma-kun, about our conversation today,”
“What is it Shintaro?”
“The person that you like, do I know this person?”
“… I guess so.”
“If I said that I like you, though I’m not very sure, what
would your reaction be?”
“Shintaro,”
“Yes, Yuma-kun?”
“The person that I love is you.”
The phone call just cut off.
***
When he stepped into the studio, the person that Yuma
expected to see was Shintaro, ever since the phone call they had the day
before, since Yuma just confessed on impulse. When he stepped into the studio,
Yuma didn’t expect Shintaro to come at him at full speed, tightly hugging him
with his face buried in his chest.
“Shintaro?”
“Sorry, nii-chan accidentally pulled out the telephone wire
for the weirdest reason and I doubt you would want to know what happened last
night.” It all came out as a mere whisper, since Shintaro was mumbling into
Yuma’s clothes.
“And for a record, I think I like you too Yuma-kun.” All
Yuma could do was to hug the younger boy back, gently kissing Shintaro’s hair.
