<< Chapter 1
As Chinen approached the transfer student, Yuto used that time to get out of the rooftop. It has been weeks that Ryosuke was giving him the cold shoulder. This really isn't helping.
Fishing out his wallet, he opened it and smiled fondly at the small picture he kept with him at all times. It was taken years ago, however the smile of Ryosuke in this picture never fails to cheer him up.
Yuto leaned against the wall of the corridor, and closed his eyes a little. The cold treatment was hurting him so much, yet if it's what Ryosuke wants, he wouldn't mind.
Stopping in his tracks, he saw Yuto leaning against the wall next to the lockers. Pain was evident in the younger boy's eyes, and Ryosuke's heart clenched.
He really didn't like to push Yuto away. He wants the younger boy to always notice him, praise him, be his. Yamada Ryosuke was selfish. Yet, he doesn't understand what he's feeling.
The small flutter of his heart whenever Yuto smiles at him. Or the electricity that would jolt up his spine with a single touch from the taller boy. These were usual things that they've done since young, so why was Ryosuke feelings all these stuffs now?
Unless he was ... No, it's impossible. Or was it?
The last bell rang, and the students slowly filled out the classroom. "Yama-chan! Can I talk to you for a little? Alone." Chinen had emphasize on the last word, and Yuto had flung his hands up in a surrender pose and left the classroom.
"Chi, what did you want to talk about?" When there were only both of them, Ryosuke turned around to ask his bandmate. For some reason, the tension in the air became really awkward and uncomfortable for him.
Fiddling with his finger, Chinen took a deep breath and looked into Ryosuke's eyes. "Yama-chan, I like you." As the sentence came out, a bang could be heard from outside, and footsteps of someone running away could be heard.
Chinen could only curse in silence. 'Oh shoot, someone was there evasdropping.' Looking at the older boy, he only received a smile. "Sorry, Chii. I love someone else. But you'll always be my friend." With that the older boy dashes out of the classroom.
Something told Ryosuke that the person who was there was someone important to him.
After Ryosuke ran out of the classroom, Chinen collapsed into the nearest chair, resting his head on the table. "Chinen-kun?" A soft voice floated into his ears, and he recognises it as Aiko's.
The sound of a chair being pulled out and bag being placed on the table let Chinen know that Aiko was now beside him. A tug was felt on his sleeve, and as he turned to meet Aiko's gaze, he realised that the girl was worried.
"Ne, Sugihara-san. Love is such a cruel thing ne? What exactly is love?" Tears started to roll down his cheeks and Aiko sat there in silent.
Turning her head towards the window, Aiko had a bitter smile on her lips. "It is. But that's what makes love worth fighting for I guess." Slowly, she told him about her past in Singapore. How she was hurt by love, and that it was one of the reasons her parents sent her to Japan to study.
"I didn't want to leave at first, since I have friends there. Especially Riko, that girl makes me laugh at her flailing and she's so easily embarrassed!" She laughed, and Chinen continued to look at her.
"Sugihara-san, have you thought of not loving anymore? Since it hurts so much." Looking up into the classroom ceiling, Chinen began to imagine random shapes.
A sigh escaped the younger girl's lips, "I did thought of that, but Riko actually scolded me for thinking like this. She said just let nature take it's course. Feelings can't be forced upon someone." Somehow, that had sparked Chinen's interest as he continued to look at Aiko.
It was than that he realise she was attractive in her very own way. Like how her hair framed hes face, and her petite figure.
Or her eyes that was always sparkling with excitement and her smile that was glowing. Even how each step she took had a certain bounce to it.
"You're really close to this Riko person. I think I might take your friend's advice." Pausing for a moment, Chinen continued, "In fact, I think I'm heeding her advice right now." A small grin formed on him face as Chinen looked straight into Aiko's eyes.
"I might be taking her advice too." Aiko stood up and twirled a little before taking her bag. Moving towards the door, she said her good bye to Chinen before walking back home.
As she laid on her bed, images of the older boy flashed through her mind. 'Riko-chan, I'm heeding your advise. Come visit me soon.' Turning towards her calendar, she saw the date the Riko would be visiting her in Japan.
Christmas Day.
