Yabu had not forseen this at all. He was walking through the
streets, planning to get a cup of coffee and now he stood grounded on the spot.
Inside the café that he was about to enter, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Particularly, his eyes were fixated on a table for three.
A lady, a man, and a child.
His legs moved on his own, and he found himself standing in
front of that particular table. “Yamada?” The man stiffened, and the lady’s
eyes went wide. Looking back and fore, Yabu could only say that the pair was a
carbon-copy of each other.
“Yamada Ryosuke, why didn’t you tell us that you had a twin;”
His gaze shifted to the lady, “And a girl at that.” Ryosuke gave the older man
a guilty smile, and motioned for Yabu to sit down.
“It’s not Ryoko’s fault. I’ll explain.”
Before Ryosuke could do any explanation, right after Yabu
had sat down, the child, around six years old, had caught his attention. Yabu
continued to look at the child, and at the back of his mind, there was a resemblance
of someone. He could swear that the child looked like someone he knew. In fact,
two people that he knew.
“Yuusuke, say hello to Uncle Yabu.” Ryosuke gave the child a
gentle smile, and Yuusuke had shyly greeted Yabu. The man just responded by
patting the child’s head. Being the curious child Yuusuke was, he tugged on
Yabu’s shirt, quietly asking, “Uncle Yabu, are you mama’s friend?”
He just blinked. “You mean that lady over there? I’m not her
friend, Yuusuke-kun.”
What came out of Yuusuke’s mouth next made Yabu just gap
like a goldfish. “No uncle Yabu. That’s my aunt. He’s my mama,” and with that,
Yuusuke jumped into Ryosuke’s embrace, and Ryosuke could only sheepishly smile
at Yabu.

“So you mean that, Ryoko-san over here acted as you and
joined JUMP for some months?!” It was hushed, who knows where paparazzi were. Ryoko
bowed down a little, apologizing to Yabu. “I’m so sorry Yabu-san. I couldn’t
like my brother be exposed.”
Seeing that Ryoko was about to burst out into tears, Yabu
nodded while saying that he didn’t mind, since Johnny himself has approved of
this arrangement at that time. “How did you managed to even get … pregnant?” Ryosuke
was wearing his usual tight fitting shirts again, and Yabu could see that the
younger man had gotten back his muscles, though not as toned up as previously.
“Radiation. My mother was working near a nuclear plant when
she was pregnant with us. The doctors said that while in the womb, I’ve
protected Ryoko from it, so that’s why there are internal changes in my body,
while Ryoko’s fine.” Ryosuke continued to explain, his hand unconsciously lying
on his stomach. Of course he didn’t mind this abnormality.
Because of this, he had Yuusuke.
No one realized the tiny frame of the six years old boy
slipping down his chair and running out of the café.
***
“Mama’s going to be mad.” Yuusuke repeated for the nth time
as he continued wondering on the streets. Truth to be told, he didn’t know
where he was now. All around him were the tall buildings, and not to mention
that he was far from his house, since his mother and aunt decided to bring him
over to his grandparents’ house today.
Without looking where he was going, he had accidentally
bumped into a man walking pass. Looking up, he suddenly felt scared, and as he
muttered sorry, tears started to flow down his chubby cheeks. “Are you alright?”
Sniffing for a little, Yuusuke looked up at the man he had
knocked into. The man had squatted down to his level, smiling gently at him. “You’re
the famous idol right, uncle?” Yuusuke just bluttered out, and he saw the man
laughing at his statement.
“I guess you can say that.” He felt the idol’s large palm
patting his head, and Yuusuke was overcome with an unknown feeling. “I’m Yamada
Yuusuke. You are Nakajima Yuto-san right? Yuusuke saw you on the television
with mama!”
Yuto blinked, as he looked at this child. “Yuusuke’s a good
name. Your mama has a really good taste in name.” He didn’t know why, but Yuto
was able to speak with this child at ease, and the name ‘Yuusuke’ reminded him
about the past.
The name ‘Yuusuke’ reminded him about Ryosuke.
“So why are you crying, Yuusuke-kun?” Yuto stiffened his
laugh as he saw the child blush a little, as he mumbled that he had gotten lost
after he snuck off without his mother. “And mama promised to bring me to the
amusement park later on too.”
He didn’t know what had gone through his mind, but Yuto
found himself offering the child a trip to the amusement park with him, where
Yuusuke had gladly agreed.
Yuto didn’t know why he felt all warm with Yuusuke. Yuto
didn’t know that Yuusuke was his child.
***
“You mean, Yuusuke’s Yuto’s child?” He didn’t believe what
he was hearing, and looking at how flustered the younger man was, it was
without a doubt the truth. “And you didn’t tell Yuto about it.”
At this time, Ryoko had left in a rush, saying about a
report to be done. “I couldn’t just tell him that his boyfriend got pregnant
right? Who would believe that a guy would get pregnant? Really, Yabu-kun.” Said
man just sighed, as he leaned back on his chair. No wonder he felt that Yuusuke
looked like Yuto when he first saw the child. And he shouldn’t be surprised,
since they knew of Yuto and Ryosuke dating each other.
“So you intend to just disappear from Yuto just like that?
Yuto’s the father, and he does have the rights to know. And Yuusuke’s going to
ask about his father right?” He knew that it’s hard for Ryosuke too, but this
was the truth.
Ryosuke thought back at the times when Yuusuke asked why
doesn’t he has a father, and why Ryosuke was his mother instead his father. At
those times, Ryosuke really appreciated that Yuusuke was a mature child, when
Ryosuke just indirectly changed the topic.
Of course he wanted Yuto to know, but would the other man
accept this?
It was a slam on the table that cut Ryosuke out of his
thoughts, and Yabu hissed, “Yama-chan, where’s Yuusuke-kun?” Looking around, he
didn’t spot his child, and Ryosuke quickly dashed out of the café.
***
“The merry-go-round was fun!” Yuusuke was propped up on Yuto’s
shoulder, his tiny hands holding onto Yuto’s head. “I wonder if this is what it
feels to have a papa.” Yuto looked up at the child questioningly.
“You know, mama didn’t tell me how papa looks like. I’ve
never seen papa before too. Yuusuke wonder why papa isn’t with Yuusuke.” The
child started to pout, and it had hurt Yuto to see Yuusuke looking so sad. “Then
let me be your papa for today, is that fine Yuusuke?”
The boy’s eyes had immediately brightened up, and nodded
quickly, kissing Yuto’s forehead. “Papa.” Yuto just smiled at how contented
Yuusuke looked when he called him ‘Papa’.
“Let’s go Yuusuke, papa will treat you to a candy floss!”
“Yay!”
***
“Yuusuke?!” They have been running around the city for
awhile, and as each minute passed, Ryosuke found himself even more worried for
his child’s safety. A phone rang, and Yabu quickly answered. “Yuto?”
Both of them stopped in their tracks and when Yabu cut off
the line, he mumbled about Hikaru calling that Yuto was missing from practice,
though that was quickly shoved to one side. “What if Yuusuke’s in the amusement
park? I’ve promised him to bring him there later on, before Yabu-kun arrived.”
With that, both men quickly hailed a cab.
***
“Thank you for being my papa, even if it’s just for today.”
Yuusuke’s grip on Yuto’s hand was firm, and he was glad that the other man was
holding onto him with equal firmness. To Yuusuke, Yuto seemed special,
something was different. Sure, his mother has other friends, and he had
interacted with them, but he would always be shy around them.
But Nakajima Yuto was a stranger to him. Yuusuke had only
seen this person on television, and although he would never tell his mother,
every time Yuusuke saw the idol on television, he was attracted to the man.
When Yuusuke talked to Yuto, he wasn’t shy. Yuusuke was able
to freely talk to the man. And that was why Yuusuke felt that Yuto was special.
“Yuusuke, I’ll be your backup papa. Don’t ever say that you don’t have a papa
alright?” He felt his hair being ruffled affectionately, and nodded. Yuto had given
him a card, and Yuusuke quickly slipped it into his pocket, treasuring it.
The child was hugging a strawberry soft toy that Yuto had
won for him in one of the games, and as Yuto looked at the small figure, he
couldn’t help thinking about Ryosuke again.
“Yuusuke?!”
Hearing his name being called, Yuusuke had immediately
turned and called out, “Mama!” His mother was in sight, and waving a little to
Yuto, he had run towards his mother. Yuto’s eyes followed Yuusuke’s running
form, and saw another person squatting down, hugging the child, and Yuto assumed that person as
Yuusuke’s mother.
He walked towards both figures, and he heard Yuusuke tell
his mother about a kind man bringing him to the amusement park when he was lost
in the streets. “Yuusuke’s mom? I’m …” He found his voice disappear when
Yuusuke’s mother looked up. “Ryosuke …?”
He didn’t expect Yuto to find Yuusuke, and much less
accompany his child around the amusement park. “Yuto-kun.” Ryosuke felt himself
shiver.
He had not planned for all these to happen. “Ryosuke, you’re
Yuusuke’s mother? What’s going on?” He felt himself getting colder and colder,
and he fell towards Yuto, who caught him before he hit the ground.
Ryosuke just fainted, and both Yuto and Yuusuke continued to
call out to him.
