Chapter 6: Time Flies

Ryosuke stiffened as the doctor placed the fragile little
life into his arms. The newborn was sleeping soundly. Weeks had passed, and
baby Yuusuke was developing properly, even though he was born before the due
date.
It was his first time holding onto his baby, and there he
knew he was going to protect Yuusuke. “Let’s go back home, Yuusuke.” No, he
wasn’t only protecting Yuusuke. Ryosuke was protecting Yuto too.

How long has it been since he saw Ryosuke? Yuto looked at
his phone, as if urging for it to receive a text from his boyfriend. Since the
last time at the park, it has already been half a year. It has been half a year
since Yamada Ryosuke was announced to be on an indefinite hiatus from the
entertainment world.
“Nakajima-san, it time for the shoot again.”
Looking up, he saw his co-star in the drama, and smiled back
gently. “Let’s go back to the set then, Tanaka-san.”
Ryosuke, are you telling me to move on. Just like that?

Of all the gibberish language Yuusuke was speaking, the one
word that surprised Ryosuke most was the word that resembled ‘Papa’. At that
time, Ryosuke just picked up Yuusuke, kissing his child on the cheeks as he
slowly explained that Yuusuke was to call him ‘Mama’.
At that time, only one thought ran through Ryosuke’s mind. ‘If
only Yuto was here to hear Yuusuke’s first word.’

Ryosuke didn’t know how to react. Yuusuke’s first year had
just passed, and both of them were in front of the television, since the child
was fascinated with the moving images. Taking this time to rest, since Yuusuke
was quietly sitting beside him, Ryosuke switched to the news channel, and Yuto’s
face flashed onto the screen.
“A photo of Nakajima Yuto, 18, and Tanaka Erika, 20, has
been taken, walking out of a bar and hailing a taxi together. It has been
reported by the paparazzi that they both alighted at Tanaka’s apartment.”
Before he could recover from this so-called scandal his
boyfriend got himself into, Yuusuke giggled and pointed to the screen.
“Papa.”

“What is this about, Nakajima?” He was now in Johnny’s
office, his head bowed down. Yes, he did go for a drink with his ex co-star in
his previous drama. What he didn’t expect was that he’d got drunk, and somehow
he ended up at Tanaka’s house.
Worst of all, the paparazzi caught them. Of course it was juicy
news, since it involved a Johnny. Johnny was about to start reprimanding him
again, when a call came in.
When the call was picked up, Yuto saw the older man’s facial
expression soften. He was asking the person on the other side of the phone if
he was alright, if the baby was alright.
Who was Johnny talking to?
Abruptly cut off, Yuto saw Johnny’s face turn sour, and
motioned for Yuto to take the phone.
“Hello?”
“Yuto.” It was Ryosuke on the other side. Questions came out
of his mouth one after another. Where was the other guy? Why did he leave? Is he
alright? Why?
It was silent on the other side, until he heard Ryosuke
humming a soft lullaby. It was a familiar tune. Where Yuto remembered how the
older guy had hummed it during their tours, when Yamada tried to make him
sleep.
“Ryosuke, why did Johnny mention about a baby?”
“Nothing much Yuto. I called to ask if the rumor was true.”
“Is that it? Don’t you believe in me anymore? You’re my
boyfriend Ryosuke.”
He heard a chuckle through the phone, realizing that he
missed how Ryosuke sounded. “Alright, I have to go now. We’ll meet again I
guess. Good bye.”
Before he could say another word, Ryosuke had cut off the phone
call, but before it was cut off, Yuto heard something.
He heard a voice calling out.
“Mama.”

Yuto was back at the playground where both he and Ryosuke
would play after their job when they were so much younger. Now 23, Nakajima
Yuto was a charming man. The scandal back then was cleared; seemingly it was
Ryosuke’s pled to Johnny.
Thinking back, it has been 5 years since he had heard from
Ryosuke.
“Where are you, Yamada Ryosuke?”
What he didn’t know was the existence of Yamada Yuusuke, or
rightfully, Nakajima Yuusuke.
