Tears flowed down his cheeks, as he collapsed onto the park's bench. Keito looked down that the shorter boy's shaking figure. Guilt was evident in his eyes.
A moment ago. What happened a moment ago resulted in this scene.
"Keito!" The smile on Ryosuke's face shone brightly, as he spotted his boyfriend at the swing set. In the morning, he had received a text from the English boy.
'Yama-chan, meet me at the park, after work. I have something important to tell you.'
After hugging the taller boy, Ryosuke followed Keito as they walked through the park. Somehow, the silence between them was suffocating, and Ryosuke had awkwardly broke it. "Ne, Keito. What is it you have to tell me?"
Both of them halt to a stop. Keito had made no movement to turn around. "Let's break up. I like someone else." Eyes widened, "Ehh?" Ryosuke could only utter that one word in disbelieve. Moving closer, he held onto Keito's arms as he breath out, "Who?"
Slowly pushing the shorter boy's hand away, Keito came face to face with him. "Ryutaro. I've always liked him. But when you confessed, I thought I could just try. I don't want to hurt you any further, Yama-chan. We're going out now. I'm so sorry."
Ryosuke had collapsed onto the bench, with a tear stained face. "Go now, before I start to regret that I let you go. Go and find Ryutaro now. He loves you, and you love him. That's all it matters now, so go." Keito had only mouthed a sorry, before disappearing into the distance.
Closing his eyes, he wondered if it was the wrong thing to confess to the older boy in the first place. He knows it's the best for them. Ryosuke knows that even though he was with Keito, there was still emptiness in his heart.
Why?
Doesn't he love Keito? He definitely likes the English boy, but love? Maybe not that much. All his thoughts were in a mess. Then, cold drops of rain could be felt on his skin. 'It's raining.' However, he didn't move a single muscle, as the rain drenched his clothes.
How long has he be seating there? Ryosuke had lost track of time. The sound of the rain pattering onto the concrete floor calmed him down.
Then, the rain seem to have stopped. No, it's still raining, he can still hear the pattering sound. Opening his eyes, and looking up, he saw Yuto holding an umbrella over them.
"What happened to you?" Taking off his jacket, Yuto placed it over Ryosuke's shoulder, and swept the older boy's bangs to the side.
Staring at Yuto, he realised that somehow, his heart began to beat even faster. Even faster when he was with Keito. Why hadn't he realised this feeling? The soft touch of Yuto's fingers on his skin felt like electricity. It wasn't the first time this happened, why does he have these feelings now? The smell of the taller boy was making him dizzy. Why now?
Why hadn't he realised all these feelings that Yuto was giving him?
Tears welled up in his eyes, and he had hugged Yuto tightly. Although Yuto was shocked by his friend's sudden action, he knew something was wrong. Slowly, he caressed the older boy's hair, and returned the hug.
Yuto had insisted that Ryosuke stayed over at his house, after seeing how emotional the boy was just now. In Yuto's room, the taller boy had passed Ryosuke his dry clothes to change into. "Wear my clothes for now. Get a hot shower, if not you'll get a cold." A gentle smile surfaced on his lips as he pushed Ryosuke into the bathroom.
Clad in Yuto's over-sized shirt and pants, Ryosuke shuffled out of the bathroom and into Yuto's bedroom. Opening the door, he saw Yuto's sleeping form on the bed. As he entered, he smiled softly at the scene. There wasn't any stress or worry on Yuto's face. Bending down, Ryosuke had boldly planted a kiss on Yuto's forehead.
The next thing that happened had scared the daylights out of Ryosuke. In a swift motion, Ryosuke was now face to face with Yuto, caught in the strong arms of the taller boy. Their nose were touching each other, and a cute blush had surfaced on the older boy's cheeks.
Yuto's eyes were still closed, as he whispered, "Now, tell me what happened." Now their foreheads were touching too, and Ryosuke also had his arms around Yuto's waist.
He told the younger boy everything. From the break up, to his emptiness when he was with Keito, and also what he felt when he was with Yuto. "Yuto, why hadn't I noticed until now?"
"Maybe because you're dense? So what have you realised, Sherlock." Yuto had opened his eyes, looking into Ryosuke's soft gaze. "I just realised that I've always been in love with my best friend all along."
Grinning, Yuto closed their distance, as he whispered against Ryosuke lips, "Than let me tell you, your best friend had loved you all along too. So let me be your umbrella to shelter you from the rain."
"Of course. Now, where did you get that cheesy line from?"
